This hearing will consist only of the developer’s presentation; the opportunity for public comment will be in person Thursday, Oct. 29, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the high school. This meeting will also be presented by Zoom.
Just to remind you of the basics of BJ’s proposal:
- Wholesale club approx. 106,000 square feet
- 16-pump gas station
- One sit-down restaurant approx. 7600 square feet
- Two drive-through restaurants approx. 2800 square feet
- A strip-type commercial building approx. 16,000 square feet

We at Branford Citizens for Responsible Development are opposed to the application for the following reasons:
- These uses are not allowed in this zone.
- The application is inconsistent with recommendations of the Plan of Conservation and Development.
- It will bring about a large increase in traffic.
- Its construction will irreparably change the character of this segment of East Main Street.
- More financially advantageous and less intensive uses could be found for the site.
